Dalton sets sights on Rally of the Bay hat-trick

As the COVID-19 lockdown continues to ease, Richie Dalton will return to rallying at the start of July as he attempts to win a third straight Rally of the Bay.

Dalton will team with regular co-driver, Dale Moscatt, in his Ford Fiesta Proto, in what will be the first event back since the pandemic.

He won’t have it all his own way, however, with a top class field of competitors eager to get back into the forest after a forced layoff.

Heading that list will be the factory supported Toyota drivers Harry and Lewis Bates, who will drive their AP4 specification Yaris’.

Event details have been released for “Australian rallying’s return” at the AMH Automotive Group Rally of the Bay on July 4.

The rally will feature seven stages, Including the popular River Road and a marathon 44km stage that utilises sections of the smooth and fast Runnyford Road, out of the township of Mogo.

Despite the devastating bushfires over the summer season, the forest and shire roads in the Bateman’s Bay area are in the best condition they have been in years, and rally crews are in for a real treat, with the best of the best selected for the course.

Rally stage names will reflect the businesses that have put their support behind the rally, with some familiar, and also new businesses, getting involved.

Richie Dalton is aiming for a third straight Rally of the Bay win.

The stages will be separated by two service opportunities back in Batehaven at the Hoosier Service Park, which will be set-up in Corrigans Beach Reserve. The Hoosier Service Park will have a different layout compared to previous years to ensure the event aligns with COVID-19 requirements.

Throughout the rally, results will be fed directly from Rallysafe and be available on the ChrisSport website, provided courtesy of Techworkz Automotive.
