Otago Rally locked in for Dalton and new Escort

Popular Sydney-based Irishman, Richie Dalton, has announced his plans to contest next year’s Otago Rally in a brand new Mk2 Escort.

The car has been on the production line for some time, but is finally nearing completion.

“After what seems to be an eternity, and this beautiful car taking a back seat to work commitments and the Fiesta being prepped for different events, this historic Mk2 Escort is now in its final stages of completion thanks to @activrallysport,” Dalton said this week.

“The shipping has been booked and paid for to the 2020 @otagorally in early April and we will begin testing in early February.

“Can’t wait to drive those awesome roads again, and in a RWD car… ?☘️”

The car features a new 2-litre Duratec-powered Ford Escort Mk2 and a Holinger ZF dog box, ‘Race Products’ full floating historic spec axle with camber adjuster, and MCA Gold 3-way suspension all round, with camber adjustments.

Dalton last contested the Otago Rally in 2018 at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta Proto, where he retired with engine problems.
