Dalton takes positives from tough ARC opener

Richie Dalton and Dale Moscatt finished the opening round of the 2022 Australian Rally Championship in seventh place.

Contesting the Netier National Capital Rally in their Shamrock Haulage Toyota Yaris AP4, they overcame alternator problems on the first day.

Dalton’s pace was easily good enough for a top-five finish, but Saturday’s woes put him well behind the eight ball as a fight raged between Harry Bates (Toyota) and Shane van Gisbergen (Skoda) for the win.

Not to be deterred, Dalton was happy with the performance of the Yaris on an event that saw him crash out of in 2021.

While it may not have been the result that he had been hoping for pre-event, it will give the team a good base point for the remainder of the ARC season.

The round of the championship is in Western Australia in May.
