Miles of smiles for Dalton and his Escort

Shamrock Motorsport driver, Richie Dalton, finished the 2021 season in grand style by driving his Ford Escort Mk2 on the Gippsland Rally in Victoria.

Against a high quality field in the Victorian Rally Championship’s final round, Dalton and new co-driver, Mac Kierans, finished the rally in an impressive ninth outright from 59 starters.

Putting his usual Toyota Yaris AP4 aside for the weekend, Dalton drove his Ford Escort and finished the day with a smile a mile wide.

The pair won the PN3 class by over two minutes, and were the third 2WD car to finish, behind a late model Ford Fiesta and a Ford Focus – both turbocharged.

With his enthusiasm high, Dalton will now start to concentrate on his assault on the 2022 Australian Rally Championship, beginning in Canberra in April.
